Ukraine said it shot down 72 of 94 Russian drones overnight. Kyiv also reported 1,310 Russian troops destroyed in the past 24 hours, while Russian strikes in the Kherson region on Tuesday killed three civilians and wounded 12 more.
Russia's fuel supply chain is under fresh strain after Ukrainian attacks set oil facilities ablaze in the Saratov region and Tatarstan, with one person killed in Saratov. Ukraine's general staff said the same operation hit two refineries, six tankers, the Borisoglebsk airfield and several road bridges. Russia then halted diesel exports through the end of July, and occupied Crimea saw queues and empty pumps at petrol stations on Tuesday. Ukrainian accounts also say Russia has begun moving fuel to the front in milk trucks and civilian vehicles.
A crowd in Lviv's Sykhiv district on Tuesday surrounded a military recruitment vehicle, smashed it and flipped it over during a mobilisation check. The man being checked, born in 1996, had been wanted since June 12 for violating military registration rules, and regional governor Maksym Kozytskyi ordered reviews of both the servicemen's conduct and the attackers.
Latvia has extended its reinforced border regime with Belarus through the end of the year after border guards turned back 2,263 illegal crossings in June, 2,433 in May and 1,700 in April. A separate operation last week ended with several migrant smugglers detained after a chase in which firearms were used. Estonia's Environment Agency on Thursday issued a dangerous weather warning for western Estonia because of heavy rain, and rescue services can order evacuations if the threat becomes direct.
OSCE experts said Russia's conduct toward Ukrainian children could amount to a crime against humanity and estimated that about 1.6 million Ukrainian children have been pushed into a system of military indoctrination. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Ukraine would soon receive Patriot missiles from the United States.
