Chuhuiv in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region was hit by a Russian strike today, killing five people and wounding three. Fire crews were still battling a blaze after the attack, which came as part of a wider overnight drone assault on the region.
Kharkiv was also hit yesterday when a Russian drone struck a Nova Poshta depot, damaging a key logistics facility. Overnight, Ukrainian forces hit Russian assets guarding the Crimean bridge, with local channels citing at least 20 drones over the Kerch Strait. Traffic on the bridge was briefly halted, and the Russian-installed authorities in Crimea said air defences were engaged.
In Tallinn, Volodymyr Zelensky said today that the war can end only if Russia stops believing it can still profit from it. He said Ukraine was building a clear diplomatic strategy and that Europe must be part of any leaders’ talks. The comments followed a call with French President Emmanuel Macron on possible ways to move the conflict toward an end. Vladimir Putin had earlier rejected Zelensky’s call for a face-to-face meeting in St Petersburg and said he saw no point in it.
